Title

- INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA COURSES BEING OFFERED AT UCR-

HERE’S A QUICK OVERVIEW OF THE PLAN

Students who need to complete an intermediate Alegbra course at a Community College based off their Math Advisory Examination (MAE) performance may elect to take RCC's Math Qualifying Exam and if placed into Intermediate Algebra or higher could enroll in an Intermediate Algebra course taught in both the late summer and during the fall quarter on the UCR campus by the Riverside Community College (RCC) faculty.  This course will help students refresh their math skills and develop a better grounding in the fundamentals needed to be successful in university level math courses.  If students complete the course with a grade of “C” or better, they will be eligible to enroll into Math 8A or Math 4 upon submission of their transcript from RCC to Vincent Norga at the Learning Center.

Registration and tuition payment will be processed through RCC.  The Intermediate Algebra course is not a substitute for any UCR course; therefore, grades will not be transferred and students will not gain unit credit towards their UCR degree.  Regular RCC fees will be charged to the student.

TO REGISTER FOR A COURSE FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW

STEP 1:

Submit an online application and indicate on the application that you are a transfer student, attending a 4 year college and RCC at the same time. (If you previously attended RCC you do not need to submit another application, unless it has been longer than one semester since you were enrolled in classes.)

Applications are generally uploaded into the RCC system 4 times a day up until 4:00 p.m. (Mon –Thurs) You are able to take the assessment usually within 2-5 days after submitting your application.

STEP 2:

Take the RCC Math Qualifying examination (Accuplacer) at the Riverside, Moreno Valley or Norco campus. View assessment hours at http://www.rcc.edu/services/assessment/dates.cfm. You are able to take the assessment usually within 2-5 days after submitting your application to RCC. If you arrive at closing time you may remain 1 ½ hours to complete the assessment. You will be given the placement scores on the spot. Call 951-222-8451 for more information regarding RCC's Math Qualifying examation.
